The purpose of this blog is to showcase the skills that I have gained while taking Weather and Society 341. Over the course of the semester I will post daily weather updates indicating what is happening in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Snow??
Well man we had a lot of rain last night and when the temperatures hit freezing that all turned into snow! There's only a little of it left yet and those people who sleep probably won't see any of it before it melts. Look for a rapid growth in river height when this melts as the soil was already saturated from the rain and that should cause some decent runoff. Also look for small signs of erosion. Anyway, back to weather it's currently 36 with a high of 53, there's a thin layer of stratus clouds over head with no wind at moment. We are headed over to marinette today to fish the walleye runs. Hopefully this rain hit them there too. As shown by the map below we are stuck between two areas of low pressure with an occuled and stationary front to our west. There's some precip also to our west that could very well hit us within the next couple hours but could also miss us due to the winds. My guess is we get hit although not substantially by any means.
