High pressure

Here's a great example of a high pressure system right here. In the map below you can see the big H over Iowa right now. Notice how there is zero wind associated with that area of high pressure as shown by the weather station model not having any arms but rather just the temperature. Now look closely and from the station models you can start to pick out a clockwise pattern of wind direction coming from the high pressure system. How neat is that?? Another item to point out is the Rocky Mountains and how that stationary front has been stuck there for what seems like some time now. Anyways, it's negative 7 right now in Eau Claire and should reach the high teens today. My geomorphology class is going to the twin cities on a field trip so hopefully it will get a tad warmer. This is also I believe the last weekend to go game fishing through the ice so get out there this weekend and enjoy the great cold outdoors! Just kidding, it should get up into the thirties this weekend...if we're lucky.
